Wall Pockets
Not only did they produce
beautiful vases and planters, McCoy Pottery is also well known for the wall
pockets they produced. Wall pockets, which are really planters and vases
that hang on the wall, were produced mainly during the 1940's and the
1950's. As you will see in the photos shown below, there is a large
variety. Please note that there are MANY variations to the glazes
shown.
Unfortunately, Wall Pockets are one area of
McCoy that has been hit hard with reproductions. All of the pieces that we
are aware of that have been reproduced will have an
symbol below the picture. Click on the
symbol for information on the reproductions.
There are many photos on
this page....it is slow to load, but I promise it will be worth the wait!
| Fruit wall
pockets - Although the
actually sit on a different style leaf, these pieces are VERY similar to
the fruit
planters produced by
McCoy. Difficult to measure because of the jagged edges of the
leaves, however, they are approximately 6 1/2" tall. These
pieces are unmarked, except for maybe a single initial impressed in the
back. The back of the piece has a distinctive circle that undoubtedly
identifies it as McCoy. Produced in the 1950's. |

| Novelty wall pockets -
This grouping includes all those wall pockets that don't seem to fit in
anywhere else. Notice how many of these include birds. |
