The McCoy Bird on a Flower Wall Pocket has always been a favorite of many collectors. We were recently alerted that reproductions of this wall pocket have been surfacing. The consensus of many collectors is that these reproductions are done in a manner that may fool many. At first glance, and even at second glance, you many think you have the real thing, but there are some major differences all McCoy collectors need to be aware of. |

| Pictured above are both the repro (left) and the "real" McCoy
(right) Bird on a Flower Wall Pocket. When sitting side by side, you can see a size
difference. However, if sitting on a shelf in an antique shop without anything to
use for comparison, this discrepancy might not be noticed. The size of the
"REAL" McCoy Wall pocket is 6.5" tall and 5" wide. The repro
wall pocket measures in just a little under at 6" by 4.5".
The flower and leaves design on both pieces are identical. The bird is shaped
SLIGHTLY different. The picture below shows the backs of both wall pockets. As you can see, both have an identical embossed pattern on the back. |
