The McCoy Lovers Show and Tell, a regular feature of
our reunion, will be held on Thursday at 5 PM on July 18, 2002 in
conjunction with the McCoy Lover Banquet. The location will be the
Knights of Columbus Hall, 275 Sunrise Center Rd (Rte 40), Zanesville,
Ohio.
In addition to the normal invitation extended to all
registered attendees to display your rare or uncommon pieces of McCoy
pottery, this year we are inviting you to bring a type of non-McCoy
item. We thought would be great if everyone could see any pottery piece
that was made by others in their attempt to copy an authentic McCoy
piece. In addition, it would also be great if you could bring the real
McCoy piece the look-alike copied, so a direct comparison can be shown.
Each person wishing to display an authentic but
uncommon piece of McCoy will be allowed to enter one item. The item has
to have been produced by either Nelson McCoy or Brush-McCoy. All entries
are welcome as long as you consider your authentic McCoy to be unusual
in some way. (Please, no items from a questionable maker.)
For the display of the McCoy look-alikes, each person
may enter two items. Any item is acceptable in this category regardless
of the maker, however the item has to simulate a real McCoy piece, which
we hope you can also bring.
As always, the main purpose of the Show and Tell
event is to help us all learn as much as we can about the pottery we
love. This year with the display of pottery pieces that masquerade as
authentic McCoy pieces, a whole new learning dimension will be added.
To make Show and Tell participation simple and quick
we have only one form for use to enter a piece in either type display.
We are including two forms in the packet that you will receive at
registration
, or you can download the forms
from the bottom of this page. In order to save
time, please fill out your forms ahead of time, however, we will have
extra forms at the entrance to the banquet hall, in case you need
additional ones.
As always, please note that you do not have to make
an oral presentation - just write a few comments about your entry so
that everyone can learn something new about McCoy pottery, or for this
year about some type of McCoy look-alike.
Please bring your entries, along with your completed
forms, to the K of C, Thursday night at 5 PM. This will allow everyone
to view and read about all the entries for one hour before dinner. You
may also get a final peek at the entries for about 30 minutes following
the conclusion of the program. Remember to bring your camera. Your
snapshots will allow you to refresh your memory when you get home, and
they could help you spot a special item that you really would like to
have, or some look-alike piece that you don’t.
