The year 2003 represents Ohio's 200th Birthday!  Many events are planned for this special celebration.  To heighten the awareness of this event, the Ohio Bicentennial Commission has undertaken several visible programs throughout the state.

One of these such programs is the painting of barns.  Because of Ohio's agricultural heritage and traditions, the barn was chosen as one of the icons for this celebration.   The Bicentennial Commission began painting the side of at least one barn in each of Ohio's 88 counties with the now famous red, white and blue Ohio Bicentennial logo.  This has turned into a cultural phenomenon, with hundreds of people showing up to watch these barns being painted, along with many others traveling across the state to see as many of the barns as possible.

Because of their reputation for excellence in pottery design and manufacturing through four generations of business in Ohio, Billie and Nelson McCoy were selected by the Ohio Bicentennial Commission to design a ceramic barn bank for this Bicentennial celebration. This ceramic barn bank is sure to be one of collector's favorites.

The bank measures 6" tall and has the familiar red, white and blue Ohio Bicentennial logo on the side.  Much effort went into the planning of this bank.  Billie and Nelson thought of everything when designing it.  There is even an area on the side of the bank where the glaze was wiped off, creating a bisque finish, so that a name could be written on the piece if desired.  It also has the McCoy Collection Logo on the bottom.
